A Rose Zellige Bath Where Pink Is a Material, Not a Mood

The easy version of a pink bathroom is pink everywhere. We did the opposite. The floor and most of the walls are large, pale Carrara tiles, and pink appears in just two places, each in a different material.

Pink, the handmade way

The shower is wrapped in rose zellige. No two tiles catch the light the same way, so the color shifts as you move. Keeping it inside the shower gives the room one concentrated glow instead of an all-over wash.

Pink is a material here, not a paint color.

Pink, the natural way

The vanity is the other pink: a deeply veined marble sourced from Turkey, carved into a substantial sink with an apron front over dark wood. Next to the irregular zellige, its sweeping veins read almost like a painting.

Tall light

A pair of slim alabaster sconces, 28 inches tall, flanks the mirror and pulls the eye up. Brass fittings and a long gooseneck shower arm add a traditional note.

A little collected

Above the toilet hangs a small arrangement of vintage and contemporary plates, a lighter layer in a room built to last. The pinks get the attention, but the plain Carrara is what lets them shine.
